Your Digimon
In this world, you are able to have your own Digital Monster, or as we call them, Digimon. Your very first Digimon is any In-Training Digimon of your choice, either an official Digimon, or a Digimon that you have made up, which you will be able to grow and level up, as well as Digivolve when the level is right. You are able to capture and raise wild Digimon from battling. You may have up to three Digimon in your party, as well as three Digimon on stand by. Party Digimon fight at once, and gain the EXP once a battle is over, if one of your Digimon in your party faints, you choose one of the Digimon on standby to battle in it's place. If a Digimon faints, it does not gain any EXP unless it has been revived in battle. Digimon not in your party or on stand by are put into your Digi-Farm. You may have up to four Digimon in your Digi-Farm, until you have bought upgrades that allow for more.
Here is some important information about your Digimon.
Stats
Stats help determine things like who attacks first, how much damage is done, how much damage is prevented, how many attacks your Digimon can do and how much damage your Digimon can take.
Aspects of Stats
Hit Points (HP)
This is the number of damage your Digimon will be able to take before fainting. If a Digimon faints, it will not be able to fight any longer, and a new Digimon that is on standby will be able to take it's place if you have one. If all of your party and stand by Digimon have 0 HP, you lose the battle. You are able to revive Digimon with a Digital Reviver. If your Digimon's HP gets low in battle, you can use an HP restorer.
Attacking Points (AP)
Most attacks use up some Attacking Points, or AP, depending on the attack. An exception to this is the few in-training attacks that use no AP. The stronger the attack, the more AP it uses. When you run out of AP in battle, you will either have to use an attack that doesn’t use AP, or use an AP restorer. If you have no AP restorers or attacks that use no AP, that Digimon you will either have to run away or keep defending with that Digimon and let another Digimon attack.
Attack
The higher this number, the more damage you will be able to do to the Digimon you are battling. When attacking, a random number between 0 and the attack number is chosen with the random number generator. The number of damage the individual attack does will then be added to the number that comes up in the generator, and then the defense number of the Digimon being attacked that was also determined by the random number generator, will be subtracted. The number left will be the number of damage done to the opposing Digimon. If those opposing Digimon has defended, then only half of the damage will be dealt. Once the damage is determined and dealt, any status problems the attack might bring with it will then be dealt.
Defense
The higher this number, the more damage your Digimon will be able to prevent happening to it. When being attacked, a random number between 0 and the defense number will be chosen with the random number generator. This number will be subtracted from the determined attack number of the attacking Digimon.
Speed
This determines who attacks when. If a Digimon has a higher speed amount than the other, the first Digimon will attack sooner than the second Digimon. If speed is equal, the random number generator is used to decide who goes before the other each turn. (A turn being, every Digimon has had a chance to move)
How Stats Can Change
Level 1, In-Training Digimon start out with 50 HP, 10 AP, 20 Attack, 10 Defense, and 10 Speed.
With each level up, the Digimon are given +5 HP, +2 AP, +2 Attack, +1 Defense, and +3 Speed.
When a Digimon digivolves, they are given +20 HP, +15 AP, +10 Attack, +10 Defense, and +15 Speed. They also gain a +5 boost in whatever stat goes with their attribute.
Some attacks can cause stats to change, either to your Digimon, or the Digimon you are attacking. However, after the battle is over, the stats change back to what they were before the battle.
Attributes also affect stats. See the section below for information on that.
Attributes
Each digimon has one of these three attributes: data, virus, or vaccine. Each attribute has a stat they're strong in. These are as follows:
Data: Speed
Vaccine: Defence
Virus: Attack
In-Trainings get a +5 boost to their strong stat. Each time they digivolve, they receive another +5 boost to their new strong stat. Sometimes Digimon change attribute when they digivolve. When this happens, the Digimon gains the +5 attribute boost from Digivolving to its new form, and keeps the ones from its old form.
While each digimon species has their own default attribute, these can be changed with an attribute chip. An attribute chip will change the digimon's attribute to whatever is on the chip. Be careful, however, as the chips will also degenerate the digimon back a certain amount(the exact amount depends on what kind of chip you buy). Using these chips will also change the colors of your Digimon. (Unless a Hex Code has been used on them, in which case they will stay the same color as their Hex Codes.) Using the chip will make the Digimon entire evolution line whichever attribute it is changed to. Using a certain attribute chip is known to unlock certain evolutions of Digimon, like DarkTyrannomon to MetalTyrannomon will need a BlackAgumon.
Attacks
Each Digimon is able to have and learn different attacks. These are what cause damage to opposing Digimon, and help you to win the battle. Each attack has its own attack power, a number that is added to the determined damage number after it is figured out. Each attack uses a certain number of AP, which is usually determined by the evolution level of the Digimon learning it, its attack power, and so on. Some attacks hit more than once space, some can hit more than once, some cause a status effect, and some can bring up stats or take away a status effect from your Digimon. Each Digimon may only know up to six attacks. If they are able to learn another attack when they already have 6, one will have to be deleted if they wish to learn it.
Learning Attacks
Every in-training Digimon starts with two attacks. Every time the Digimon levels up, they have a 1 in 5 chance of gaining a new attack that it is able to learn. The attack is picked with the random number generator. This is done by numbering each of their attacks (according to the DMA Digidex), and then using the random number generator to pick the number. If the Digimon already knows that attack, a different number is picked. They also gain one new attack every time they Digivolve as well. The attack is picked with the same method, from those that the digivolved Digimon can learn. The attacks that it had as its previous evolution are carried over.
Status Effects
Some attacks may have a chance of causing a status problem to the opposing Digimon. Each of these different status problems has a different effect.
>Burn - Success Chance: 1/4. Each turn that the Digimon attacked has this status effect, it will lose 10% of their MAXHP.
>Poison - Success Chance: 1/3. Each turn that the Digimon has this status effect, it will lose 6% of their MAXHP.
>Paralysis - Success Chance: 1/3. Each turn that the Digimon has this status effect, there is a 1/2 chance it will not be able to move.
>Sleep - Success Chance: 1/4. Each turn that the Digimon has this status effect, they will not be able to move. When its the turn of the Digimon who is asleep, there is a 1/3 chance they will wake up.
>Confusion - Success Chance: 1/3. Each turn that the Digimon has this status effect, there is a 1/3 chance that the Digimon will harm itself. If it does harm itself, the damage dealt will be 60% of the damage it would of dealt to the opponent.
>Stun - Success Chance 1/3. It makes the target skip their next turn.
>Death - Success Chance 1/10. It makes the target faint on contact.
>Bleeding - Success Chance: 1/3. Once a Digimon is affected by this status effect, it will lose health each turn by 1/3 of the damage it received from the attack that dealt the status effect. This effect lasts three turns and heals automatically after the 3rd hit is calcucated. Any healing effect can remove Bleeding on the affected Digimon.
>Severe Bleeding - This is a special status effect that appears when a Digimon is affected by a second Bleeding effect when it already has a Bleeding or another Severe Bleeding active. The damage it deals is a combination of all the Bleeding effects, note that it can be stocked up as many times as possible. It lasts three turns, and resets back to three each time a new Bleeding effect is added. Only healing that restores more than a half of the Digimon's HP can remove this effect early.
>Demotivation - Success Chance: 1/2. Once a Digimon is affected by this status effect, it will not be able to use any skills from its current Stage. Each turn the Digimon has this effect, there is a 1/2 chance that it will recover.
>Dishearten - This is a special status effect that appears when a Digimon is hit by a second Demotivation effect when it already has Demotivation. Digimon who suffer this status effect will not be able to attack or hurt one of the opponent Digimon at random and they will also have their current Stage attacks locked. The affected Digimon may return to normal if one of the opponent Digimon is defeated.
Leveling and Digivolving
Leveling
When your Digimon levels up, it becomes stronger, and is able to take on stronger opponents. The more levels your Digimon has, the closer it is to Digivolving. To gain levels, you must fight other Digimon. When you have defeated one, you will gain EXP from that battle, which is used to level up.
EXP
Digimon need experience in order to gain levels. The EXP needed to hit the next level is calculated by the following formula. Note that this is cumulative exp, so exp gained at previous levels counts towards this number.
Exp Needed=1.2(Level^3)-15(Level^2)+(100*Level)-140
The amount of EXP gained from defeating a Digimon is also found by a formula. The following formula is the one used:
EXP Gained=((100*Level)*1.5)/7
Alternately, you can look up both the amount of total exp needed for the next level, and the exp gained from defeating certain leveled opponents on this chart located here
Digivolving
Once your Digimon reaches a certain level, it will be able to Digivolve. *NOTE: You don't have to Digivolve your Digimon at that level if you don't want to, you can keep it at its current level as long as you want, although Digivolving makes them stronger.*
In-training Digimon can digivolve at level 8
Rookie Digimon can digivolve at level 20
Champion Digimon can digivolve at level 32
Ultimate Digimon can digivolve at level 44
Mega Digimon can perform a Mode Change/DNA Digivolution/SuperMega Digivolution at level 56
When it Digivolves, its appearance changes, it usually gets bigger, and it becomes stronger, being able to take on tougher opponents. There are different ways to Digivolve.
Normal Digivolution
The normal way of Digivolving is leveling your Digimon up to the correct level, and then filling out a Digivolution form with the correct information, and then your Digimon will evolve to its next stage.
Side Digivolving
Most digimon have side evolutions from other sources that they can digivolve into(These can be looked up on the DMA Digidex). To side digivolve, you must first obtain the correct side evolution disk. This will correspond to the type the digimon will turn into. You can then digivolve it normally by filling out the form, assuming your digimon meets the level requirements. If the Digimon it's evolving to normally needs an item to digivolve, you will also need to obtain that.
Armor Digivolving
To Armor Digivolve, you must first be sure that your Digimon is able to Armor Digivolve. Then, you must buy the correct Armored Egg from the shop. After you have done that, if your Digimon is the right level (most Armor forms are Champion level, therefore it would need to be at least level 20), you may fill out the Digivolve form with the right information.
DNA Digivolving
Some Digimon are able to combine together to make a new Digimon. To do this, you must have both of these Digimon at the right level, depending on what stage the Digimon you will be obtaining from the DNA Digivolution is, and then fill out the form correctly. Remember, you are losing a Digimon from this! If two Mega Digimon DNA Digivolve, the product is classed as a SuperMega. You are allowed to request other peoples Digimon to DNA Digivolve with you, if they accept, you both get the Digimon, and the cost is split between the two of you.
Item Digivolving
Some Digimon need a special item to Digivolve. This is sometimes needed to go from Champion to Ultimate, Ultimate to Mega, or for a Mode change, although not all Digimon need an item. Mode Change Digimon are classed as SuperMega level, and therefore are stronger than Megas. Sometimes an item may be needed to evolve a Digimon to Mega. To Digivolve with an item, you first need the item, and the Digimon that will evolve with this item, at the correct level.
