Posting my tourney now for 2 reasons:
1) I don't think people realize this tournament feature even exists, so I wanted to demonstrate it by using it.
2) I'm bored, and this idea was nagging at me.

Description:



"Yo, it's me, Vyx. So...I was bored one day, and totally thought that running a tournament was a good idea. Luckily, the arena dragons actually allow this now, so I got the means to do it. Only...there's a problem.

"See, Lunar's being mean, and won't give me any prizes for my tournament. I tried combing the wild areas for some too, but to no avail. Thus, I am forced to charge an entry fee, and use the combined fees as a prize jackpot for winning. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this. I might add an extra something in there later though if I find anything, but for now, it's just the bits.

"So, how is my tourney supposed to work? Well, I'm sure you're familiar with this..." Vyx runs off the stage, returning with a wheel similar to the one in the point shop. This one, however, is modified to have more options and different things written on it. "Well, I loved my wheel so much that I thought it would be a waste if I didn't reuse it for something, and this seemed like the perfect occassion.

"In short, each tourney field will be randomized by the wheel, so the rules for each of your rounds will be different. These will be displayed when the arena gets prepared, during which you'll have a bit of time to strategize before the actual match starts.

"The exact tourney structure and roster will be posted once sign-ups are over.. The exact set-up of that is going to vary depending on how many people sign-up, after all.

"I should also clarify that this is an unofficial tourney, so it doesn't count towards your rank or anything. Lunar never wants to sanction anything I do. She's also under the impression that having two official tourneys going on at once would be too weird, though I totally disagree with that.

You have a week to get your entries in, after which the tourney will start. This might be extended though if I really need more entries

Sign-ups will end on February 11th at Midnight Mountain Standard Time (yes, using my own timezone for this, not Durgon's).

Any battle methods or anything you'd want to see here? Hm, considering we can think the same stuff here, it's rather difficult thing, but I would go for something new and I am really expecting some of Lunar's epicness (and Vyx's, of course), in this =P

Well, there should be a lot more tournaments where this came from, prayer, seeing as anybody can make a tournament now. (though I'm the only one actually using said feature =/).

And yeah, effects are a given. There's going to be some overlap with some of King's tourney stuff, obviously, but I also got creative and made up a lot of my own content/twists (some of which I won't get a chance to use here).

Yo, Vyx here. So the week of sign-ups is up, and I can finally be epical, and start up the tourney. Sorry to anybody who missed the deadline, but a week was long enough. I kept whining and getting impatient throughout the whole thing.

So, first off, this tourney does have a few general guidelines so it moves at a somewhat-decent pace. I didn't want any at first, but Tsune wrote them up, and forced me to use them. He's no fun like that.

Random: Practically all the arena settings are randomized before the start of the battle. No complaining if you get an arena you don't like. This is also a way to test different settings to see what works for future tournaments.

Despite the randomness, however, there are some global rules that apply to ALL battles.

Absences: You have 2 days to make a reply to your tourney post. If there's no reply in 48 hours from the last post, then your turn will be skipped. If the reply failure happens at the start when selecting digimon, then you forfeit the match, and your opponent wins by default.

The only exception to this rule is if you inform me in advance that you'll be gone, and there's a good reason for it. In that case, I'll save your spot in the tourney, and there won't be a penalty.

Global Clauses: A lot of the clauses and battle guidelines ARE randomized at the start of battle, but there's a few global rules that are active on ALL battles. They are as follows:

Species Clause - All the digimon in your roster must be different species. Note that things like "Greymon" and "GeoGreymon" count as two different species. If there's any confusion over this rule, ask Lunar over it.

Sleep Clause - Each player can only have 1 digimon asleep at a time.

Death Clause - the death status effect is banned, and won't work here. This is so battles aren't way too easy.

Type Clause - Digimon type advantages/disadvantages/rivalries are in effect. See below for what they are.

Match Structure:

Now that it's starting, I'm going to talk a bit about how I structured the tourney. That said, the Lightning Tourney is broken down into 2 rounds: Preliminaries and Finals.

Preliminaries: The initial stage. You'll be assigned 2 opponents at random to battle at the same time. After all the matches are over, I'll go through the battles, and choose two tamers to move onto the finals.

Note that you don't necessarily have to win both of the battles to move on. Tsune and I are going to look at other, secret factors besides that to decide who gets to move on. In the event there is a tie though, they'll be a sudden death match to break the tie.

Finals: A standard randomized match between the final two people. Unlike preliminaries, the winner of this match wins the whole tournament.

The Random Wheel:

Now is the fun part...I get to explain all the cool options that can turn up during random, and how they'll work.

Arena - The arena used during the match. Most of these were taken from various works, but others were either entirely made-up or from Lunar's story. All you get though is the arena name and a brief description of how it looks like. All characteristics of the arena are kept a secret.

Switching - Are user's allowed to switch digimon during the match? Yes means it's allowed, No means it's not allowed (unless a digimon faints, where you'll need to switch in a new one).

Match Structure: This is basically how the match is setup digimon-wise. There's a few different options that can be turned on.

6/3: After the arena is posted, each opponent must PM me the 6 digimon that they're using, following the global/arena rules. After both opponents contact me, a single battle starts. 1 digimon is out at a time, and each opponent can use up to 3 out of their pool of 6.

6/4: Same as above, only it's a double battle with up to 4 digimon used instead of 3.

If the above two are confusing, think Pokemon Stadium (and Collosseum for the 6/4), because it was inspired from those game.

Digimon Restrictions - What digimon you're restricted to using during the tourney. The possible restrictions are as follows:

Owned: This is self-explanatory. This category refers to digimon you actually own on DDC. Such as Lunar owning me and Tsune.

Rentals: This refers to rental digimon. Yes, we have rentals. No, we don't use the rent shop to borrow them. Just put them on your roster when you PM Lunar with your team of 6.

Participants - This refers to digimon belonging to other participants. Yes, you can use other people's digimon in this tourney. So you guys can go borrow Durgon's NeoDevi if you want if this is flipped.

You might also have pluses in your key which means you'll need to use a combination of these things to form your team.

Level Restrictions: But noooo, we aren't done yet. Where's the fun in an epic tourney if we don't even the playing field a bit? Yes, they'll be level restrictions applied to these things depending on what you flip.

Rookies Only: Only rookie digimon may be used. All participants will be @level 14 for the duration of the battle.

Champions Only: Only champion digimon may be used. All participants will be @level 26 for the duration of the battle.

Ultimates Only: Only ultimate digimon may be used. All participants will be @level 38 for the duration of the battle.

Megas Only: Only megadigimon may be used. All participants will be @level 50 for the duration of the battle.

Notes: Any owned owned/participant digimon can still be used for level limitations if they're not at the right stage. Their stage/moves will merely change to reflect the restrictions in place.

Random Digimon?:
Now this is the fun option...do you guys get to choose what digimon you use, or do I get to randomize them for you too?

Random: Your team of six digimon is completely randomized...you don't get to choose them at all.

Choice: You get to choose the six digimon you're using in the battle.

Note: King's matches aren't going to start until he gets back to make it fair to him...I'm putting them up here anyway, but I won't unveil the randomness on his until after he gets back to keep things fair to him.

Match B: Prayer vs. King
Match C: MG vs. Wyvern
Match D: Durgon vs. MG
Match E: Wyvern vs. Prayer
