So this is about the subject of adding more moderators to the site. As the site grows the need for more moderators grow. I do apologize for sounding rude when bringing up the subject in chat.

1. At least 1hr of activity a day. This can be split throughout the day; but we should at least know they are doing their jobs.

2. They should be a member of site for at least 2years.

3. At least do a post twice a week.

4. They are even tempered, easy to get a long with.... over all likable. As it would do no good if they were short tempered and snappy.

ya well first i think we should promote Nero and Drake to admin considering they are the most active staff and I think they would do a good job.

Well there are already 6 Helpers and 1 Helper's Assistant. Perhaps it is time to promote Drake to Helper, but just hiring new moderators does not guarantee that there will be updates, since people will always have lives that take priority over this board. Perhaps it is time to hire a few more, but maybe some accountability measure should be set into place (if not already) so that the moderators stay actively moderating.

Regarding admin promotion, what does the job of an admin entail? Also, people probably shouldn't be promoted to admin haphazardly based solely off of activity.

Oh, hmm.... I do appreciate the votes. However I agree with Ratio. I would rather know what I'd be getting myself into. Updating battles can be a full time job. Maybe we could have set positions?

Like DC does evolution and plushies, King does the evolution shop and Hex shop, someone else does the Junk and Memory shop, etc.

Even with Drake and myself added in. We may be run thin keeping up with everyone.

Also King has schooling so I know that is why he is not often on. DC I'm not sure; but we could try organizing more. It would help a lot.

I hate to say it, But I am unsure how to take this. I am honored and happy to be nominated, but since I am making my own game with DramonFire, I don't know how well I would be able to do, adding this to my list of jobs. Please give me time to think about this.

Icy, I feel as if an hour of activity is afar too much. I could do two SAT problem sets in that time and god knows how much homework I can do in an hour (in fact probably all of my school work). Just the thing is.. how does one moderate the time people are on in the first place? It just sounds like a lot of micromanagement and thats definitely something everyone dislikes.

I would like to second Nero's suggestion. It could be a committee of people (no time or post requirement per day) but rather, a person(s) be assigned to do the training or the helping and the shops and whatnot... *shrugs* probably might need more hands though for that system


However I still would like to add and emphasize and say that this job of helping whatever it may be.. should not be stressful in any way and if anything, should be a bit satisfying in a sense.

I have struck out the ones I thought were unrealistic, Icyfox. 1hr. of activity isn't hard for me, since I have very little RL responsibilities, but for someone like your Cousin, that would not be true, would it? And sometimes posting can be hard, since the site goes thru a dry season during school time. I have no problem with the other two though.

Okay I'll submit about the 1hr thing but one post is not too much. I do not know the exact nature of how long any single thing takes; however asking 5-10minutes for a single post isn't a lot. It also prevents their work from piling up so they do not feel overwhelmed the next time they get on.

Yes, but like I said, what if the site slows down a lot, like it does during school time? I mean, what is the point of posting if there is nothing to post a reply to? We do have anti Spamming rules, so that could be a bad thing, Just posting for the sake of posting.

I would not mind being an evolver. Since I do battles I often know when it is time for people to digivolve. Mind you this isn't a set thing I mean keepers and evolvers would go through basic training overall therefore they could do battle as well but after that they should be set to their own thing.

Honestly this looks better because we are not putting as much on DC and King's shoulders. Although they can do whatever they want when they want in the other areas.

I really like your idea, Nero! ^^ but I think the next issue would be recruiting keepers, evolvers, etc. but this is a solid system, I think. and DC and King can step in at the absolute last minute. (I'd personally think)

Alright I got to admit it. This is one of the few topics in which I would rather just not post at. I don't feel that comfortable discussing this, but I owe you guys sharing my opinion on this. Most sites don't even allow people talking about topic like this, and while I think that's just a stupid close-mind vision of theirs, it's still not easy for me.

There are a lot of ideas that have been thrown here. Let me try to organize myself to respond them all.

Let's begin with the fact I am not a fan of rules. If I don't accept you, I would like to give you my complete review of the reasons and not just tell you ''because you don't fulfill rule number 347'', I will also admit that no matter the rules we put, if I like how you do things, I am going to give you the powers and the spot, no matter if you don't have the 2 years at the site. Most of the helpers we have now -and the ones we had in the past- haven't had the 2 years thing when we accepted them, in fact some didn't even have half a year with us. It's not a rule that is even applicable, plus the time spent with us doesn't give us any guarantee of them staying. If you mean more towards dedication to the site, that's something I notice in about the first few days of your stay around here, I notice by the amount of posts, comments and everything done around, so yeah.

I don't want this to be a sort of duty. Helpers are to help, to make the site work while having fun around. It's not supposed to involve having them posting often or lose their spot, I certainly don't want this site to be like others that just toss people away. MG has her spot still after vanishing on us several times, and I don't think even her knows the actual reason why I decided to keep her powers, eh. Plus come on, monitoring them around is like adding more duties for the admins, besides the fact it's kinda silly.

Awws, I am not short tempered, evil and meanie? Darn, I am being too kind over here? Shoot, eh. Leaving jokes aside, well I always have this in consideration when accepting entries, just like I never accept the trouble-makers. It's also a matter of trust, so that's important too, besides the fact if I like you or not eh.

Drake is a special case I feel I should explain. He wanted to help us badly, but he was using a phone back then, so he lacked the ability to edit posts, which means he couldn't edit profiles or make use of our calculators. That's why I trained him in a way to avoid that issue and that's why I limited his powers. He is for no reason inferior to any helper, that's why I tried to come up with a name that was similar, and also use a similar color. Now he can indeed be a full helper. It's kinda my fault here =P, for not being able to continue his training smoothly. He will get his full powers once he learns how to use them, after all, there is no point to be a full helper if you don't know how, uh.

Now let's see, some of my own topics to put here:

Hmmm, not many ways of saying this come to my mind at the moment. You are imaging being an admin is just a tittle, just like the ranks, tittles that make reference to what you do. Being an admin is not having more duties, it's about responsibility and ownership. Admins for essence have the full control of the site and are the ones that ultimately decide the site's destiny and how to achieve it. At Proboard's eyes I am the head admin of the site and the only one that has the powers to decide what it wants of it, the only one with the ability to delete it, in fact. I like to think the admins are more like a team here, that work together as a sort of committee, a group that discuss stuff to make them happen in the best way possible. Adding a third admin is not about spreading duties, it's about adding a third person to the discussion table. That includes adding the others to Skype and pretty much be up to be constantly discussing stuff with each other. Dark and I do that a lot, even though I think the times when we can spend talking together are just too few. An admin has to be one that goes pretty well with both of us. It's something only us can decide. Durgon was the one to put me in this spot, and she was also the one that put Darks on it. She discussed it with Lunar in my case and with me in Dark's case, now this is something only Darks and I can decide. Even though, you know, we always listen to you guys, that it's something you can't doubt about, eh.

You guys are also forgetting an important aspect that is a problem of itself. Almost every single role that can possible help up in a way requires a ton of trust from our part, simply because it's always about editing profiles and in order to do that, we have to give modding powers. It's not a small thing, because if you can edit a profile that this X tamer bought this X can, you can also put tons of items on your friend's profiles or completely leave a bunch of the profiles blank. Not giving deleting powers doesn't stop anyone from modifying a profile leaving a giant ''F'' or ''0'' on it. I trust every single one of my guys, the staff and also trust you guys, the tamers, but is common sense that we can't just handle modding powers to just anyone that asks for them. I know you want to help, but we can't just handle those so lightly, nor do I want to be monitoring stuff. It's not an easy task for us. Everything we do involves a sort of moderator power sadly. You can give us a hand with sprites and attack moves, but then again that's something we both enjoy doing, so uh. Though maybe we could organize something for you guys to give us some help at. Hmm....there are things related to the DigiDex that can be done to help us, but I can't think any ordinary duties that can be done without moderation powers.

I suppose that should be it more or less. I don't know what else to say. I have a thing against change, I am a dragon of a single nest so to speak. But there are things that can definitely be done better.

Trust is the biggest thing I agree with you on. Change can be good though. I will not defend my cousin or what she thinks is applicable. However there are two views to this.

We know you King and DC as well. We know you have school and work and other things in your life.

Like my cousin just see you as rarely on mods. They feel like they are on a back burner and maybe forgotten. They do not know you; they do not know what you do.

>>Compromise

Don't add new Moderators instead extend what needs to be done outwards. We are helpers; let us help. As my little diagram showed you put so much on yourselves King. We just want to let you know that you can rely on us in more ways than one.


It is alright if you are set on not expanding helper duties. However all issues if brushed under a carpet make unsightly lumps. Try finding a way you are willing to handle things. If this is unacceptable find something that is. Find something that puts you at ease and makes others feel good as well.

There is a Win-Win scenario we just have to find it.

I don't really want to speak for the group, but I feel as if the majority of admins and helpers are in quite crucial, important times in their lives at the moment--whether it be college, jobs, or drama. And outside of that, a life outside of DDC. Though I too think we should certainly be more responsible and active in the ideal, I am uneasy about the possible enforcement of more rules and regulation. I actually think that all that Icy mentioned at the top of the post at the moment is very reasonable (eg: one post per day, friendly staff, etc). The only reason for my queasiness is how rule enforcement and regulation would change the feel/atmosphere of the site. I always viewed DDC as more of a community and family--thought we originally came together out of common interest in Digimon, I believed it to quickly transcend outside of the calculations and game into something... something else. At this point, I'm personally back here solely for the people and community, rather than the Digimon franchise or the game. Most of these rules and regulations, of course, pertain to the game and updating things timely. I absolutely agree that the updating could certainly be vastly improved, but how to go about this? I do not think pushing helpers is the solution. Why?

According to Proboards ToS, people who sign up should be 13.
Add two years to that (though I know that there's no requirement for helpers to be two years active, most helpers are by the time they are promoted)-- at least 15 or 16, 17 or > for others who do not find at age 13. High school, SAT's, college, job. Though people understand that being a DDC staff member is a big responsibility, usually people end up being very active for the first six months or year as a helper and fall off later when offline life hits them hard. Usually, I think the most capable, mature, and responsible for staff have many other "duties" outside of DDC. More rules and more dutiful-like responsibilities may cause stress or take away from the feel/atmosphere? What about just a //strong suggestion// to post at least twice a week? And possibly a suggested exchange of social network information (skype, e-mail, fb, etc?) so that helpers are more easily contactable? Sometimes, I think even a reminder about DDC to go online would be nice.

I understand that such "defense" may seem biased, especially since I'm one of the helpers that was not even active until recently. However, as a senior member of DDC who has been here almost second/third longest to King, I have seen the battle system revolutionized over time. A long, long time ago, one battle update post a day not even always expected. Even one Digimon at a time rather than the entire team making their moves. I think DDC has improved immensely, and I hope people stick with DDC as everyone continuously strives for improvement.

Yet, I greatly applaud Nero and Drake for all that they have done and contributed to DDC. Both, I recognize, as very active, appreciated staff on DDC. In fact, if Nero wanted to be an admin and if she were to ever be promoted, I would fully support the decision and be the first to open the apple cider bottle. Especially for those who want to help, I hope more ways for them to do so will be created--

Especially for more staff specifying in certain areas, I think that would be actually a pretty good idea (evolvers, shop keepers, etc... possibly also new user set-up? and training center gym mods? possibly advertisers and link-backers). And I actually think that getting maybe one more interested person trained might be of interest. *shrug

Lastly, thank you Icy for creating this thread. I think it highlights a lot of aspects and topics that should be addressed-- and very important for members and staff to communicate since not all that's behind the scene is seen. ^_^

I can agree to the twice a week. I suppose I like rules they make things organized. I can however see what you mean MG. The teens are a hazardous part of life. As many are also going through bodily changes as well as the emotional ones you mentioned.

My question is, Would it be possible for helpers to be memebers of the Keepers/Evolvers, and vice-Versa

You would have to become a helper in order to be a Keeper or Evolver. It is like the term soldier; what kind, mace wielder, swordsman, axe-men, double blade, broadswords-man, archer etc.
